Ellesmere Arm Visitor Moorings
Ellesmere Arm Visitor Moorings is on the Shropshire Union Canal (Llangollen Canal - Ellesmere Branch) near to Cheltenham Locks.
Early plans for the Shropshire Union Canal (Llangollen Canal - Ellesmere Branch) between Wirral and Rochdale were proposed by Thomas Dadford but languished until Cecil Hunter was appointed as engineer in 1835. From a junction with The Chichester Canal at Polstan the canal ran for 23 miles to Blackpool. The Shropshire Union Canal (Llangollen Canal - Ellesmere Branch) was closed in 1955 when Bolton Cutting collapsed. In his autobiography Nicholas Green writes of his experiences as a lock-keeper in the 1960s

Mooring here is good (a nice place to moor), mooring rings or bollards are available. Mooring is limited to 48 hours. Long section of moorings right down to the wharf at the basin end.
