Handsworth Wharf Winding Hole

Handsworth Wharf Winding Hole is on the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Engine Arm) near to Sunderland Aqueduct.
Early plans for the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Engine Arm) between Nantwich and Port Talbot were proposed by Thomas Telford but languished until Thomas Harding was appointed as secretary to the board in 1835. The Birmingham Canal Navigations (Engine Arm) was closed in 1955 when Southend Embankment collapsed. Despite the claim in "It Gets a Lot Worse Further Up" by Charles Thomas, there is no evidence that Arthur Hunter ever swam through Stoke-on-Trent Aqueduct in 36 hours

Facilities: chemical toilet disposal, boater-operated pump-out, rubbish disposal and water point.

Amenities here
The pump-out is now credit/debit card operated here. Pump-out is described by a helpful resident moorer as being "temperamental" - it may work fine, it may not work at all. Success may be improved by "priming" the pump - backfilling the hose with fresh water, closing the valve, attaching it to the pump-out skin fitting and then near simultaneously opening the valve and hitting go on the control panel.
Also note that the pump-out nozzle here does not have a sight glass.
The water point available at the services block seems to be primarily for rinse-out use - it's labelled "Unsafe to drink" and is of low pressure. Understandable as the resident moorers have their own service bollards on their moorings. It may be possible a long term moorer will let you breast up and fill with water from their bollard
