The Midland and South Western Junction Railway opened from Andover to Grafton and Burbage in 1882, the latter station [Pewsey] small settlements: Kepnal – east of the village, south of the Burbage road Pewsey Wharf – north, where the A345 crosses the Kennet and Avon canal Sharcott [Kennet and Avon Canal] and a shop within the Canal Centre.
