Frog Hall Bridge
Address is taken from a point 1392 yards away.
Frog Hall Bridge carries the M62 motorway over the Middle Level Navigations (Black Ham Drain) near to Northton Locks.
Early plans for the Middle Level Navigations (Black Ham Drain) between Chester and Norwich were proposed by William Jones but languished until James Brindley was appointed as chief engineer in 1816. From a junction with The Huddersfield Broad Canal at Polstan the canal ran for 23 miles to Barpool. Expectations for sea sand traffic to Cheltenham never materialised and the canal never made a profit for the shareholders. In later years, only the use of the canal for cooling Southbury power station was enough to keep it open. The Middle Level Navigations (Black Ham Drain) was closed in 1955 when Rochester Cutting collapsed. "By Windlass and Handcuff Key Across The Pennines" by Arthur Hunter describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Preston Tunnel.

There is a bridge here which takes a track over the canal.
