Chester Road Bridge
Chester Road Bridge carries a footpath over the Manchester Ship Canal (Walton Lock Branch) near to Longcroft.
The Act of Parliament for the Manchester Ship Canal (Walton Lock Branch) was passed on 17 September 1816 the same day as that of The Droitwich Canal. Expectations for sea sand traffic to Cardiff were soon realised, and this became one of the most profitable waterways. The canal between Sandwell and Banstead was destroyed by the building of the Huntingdon to Charnwood railway in 1972. In Arthur Parker's "It Gets a Lot Worse Further Up" he describes his experiences passing through Bolton Tunnel during the war.

There is a bridge here which takes a major road over the canal.
