[Varsity Line] diverted to former GWR station. Oxford North Junction; convergence from GWR line; from 1940. Wolvercote; opened 9 October 1905; close 1 January 1917; [Cherwell Valley line] an alternative spelling for that village's toponym. The former halt at Wolvercote was called "Wolvercot Platform", with a deliberately different spelling [River Thames] existing bridges both in London and along the length of the river. These included Putney Bridge, Westminster Bridge, Datchet Bridge, Windsor Bridge and Sonning [East West Rail] reinstated under the Aylesbury Vale Parkway project. The line from north of Wolvercote Tunnel (just north of Oxford) through Bicester to Bletchley would be enabled [Wolvercot Platform railway station] Road, and served the village of Wolvercote, but was spelt Wolvercot to try to reduce confusion with the nearby Wolvercote Halt on the London and North Western [Duke's Cut] England, which connects the Oxford Canal with the River Thames via the Wolvercote Mill Stream. It is named after George Spencer, 4th Duke of Marlborough [Wolvercote Halt railway station] Wolvercote Halt was a railway station at Upper Wolvercote near Oxford on the Varsity Line. The London and North Western Railway opened the halt in 1905 [Cotswold Line] funding matters to be resolved. The line passes through Wolvercote. To the west, Lower Wolvercote was a centre for paper making, mainly for the Oxford University [Chiltern Main Line] operate, calling at Bicester Village and High Wycombe. The track between Wolvercote Tunnel (on the outskirts of Oxford) and Bicester Village has been rebuilt [Oxford Canal] through a bridge under Hythe Bridge Street to a turning basin and goods wharf south of Hythe Bridge Street. It then continued via a bridge under Worcester
