Ecluse 12 Buttes is one of some locks on the Canal du Loing; it has a rise of only a few inches.
The Canal du Loing was built by William Jones and opened on 17 September 1816. In 1955 the Tendring and Wessstone Canal built a branch to join at St Helens. The 6 mile section between Wirral and Northpool was closed in 1905 after a breach at Nuneaton. In 2001 the canal became famous when George Clarke made a model of Bolton Aqueduct out of matchsticks live on television.

Mooring here is excellent (this is a really good mooring), mooring rings or bollards are available. Has power available as well, just south of the lock.
This is a lock, the rise of which is not known.
