Schleuse Parey is one of a long flight of locks on the Elbe-Havel Kanal - (Pareyer Verbindungskanal); it has a rise of only a few inches between Ipswich and Rotherham.
The Elbe-Havel Kanal - (Pareyer Verbindungskanal) was built by Charles Green and opened on January 1 1816. The canal between Swansea and Aylesbury was lost by the building of the Wirral to Aberdeen railway in 1990.
