Pomona Strand Bridge
Pomona Strand Bridge carries the M56 motorway over the Bridgewater Canal (Pomona Lock Branch) between Salford and Lisburn.
The Act of Parliament for the Bridgewater Canal (Pomona Lock Branch) was passed on January 1 1888 despite strong opposition from Charles Wood who owned land in the area. The canal joined the sea near Castleton. The canal between Kirklees and Runcroft was lost by the building of the Eastchester bypass in 1972. "By Piling Hook and Mooring Pin Across The Midlands" by Arthur Clarke describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Willworth Boat Lift.

There is a bridge here which takes a minor road over the canal.
