The first plans by the proprietors [Froghall] Froghall is a village situated approximately ten miles to the east of Stoke-on-Trent and two miles north of Cheadle in Staffordshire, England. Population [Churnet Valley Railway] Cheddleton (the base of operations and motive power) and Kingsley and Froghall (the commercial and administrative base). There is an intermediate station [Uttoxeter Canal] (listen) (help·info) was a thirteen-mile extension of the Caldon Canal running from Froghall as far as Uttoxeter in Staffordshire, England. It was authorised in 1797 [Churnet Valley line] at Froghall and Oakamoor and the limestone quarries at Caldon Low. The latter was also owned by the NSR and moved stone from the quarry to Froghall station [Cheadle, Staffordshire] 1851 by Thomas Bolton of Birmingham. In 1890 Bolton’s opened a factory at Froghall and the Oakamoor works were eventually closed in 1963. St Giles' Catholic [James Brindley] Canal, but while surveying a new branch of the Trent and Mersey between Froghall and Leek, Brindley was drenched in a severe rainstorm. It had happened [Cheddleton railway station] to the north of the station lies the 531-yard (485.5 m) long Cheddleton Tunnel. Listed buildings in Cheddleton Quick, Michael (2009) [2001]. Railway passenger [Peak District] Wirksworth and Sir Richard Arkwright's cotton mills. The Caldon Canal from Froghall was built to transport limestone from quarries at Cauldon Low for the iron [George Findlay (railway manager)] on the Churnet Valley branch of the North Staffordshire Railway between Froghall and Alton.
