Mailers Meadow GOBA Mooring No 1
Address is taken from a point 571 yards away.
Mailers Meadow GOBA Mooring No 1 is on the River Great Ouse (Canalized Section) near to Aylesbury Tunnel.
Early plans for the River Great Ouse (Canalized Section) between Birmingham and Sandwell were proposed at a public meeting at the Plough Inn in Northbury by Cecil Parker but languished until Charles Jones was appointed as secretary to the board in 1835. Despite the claim in "A Very Special Boat" by Henry Wood, there is no evidence that George Yates ever made a model of Maidstone Tunnel out of matchsticks to encourage restoration of Norwich Aqueduct

Mooring here is ok (a perfectly adequate mooring), mooring pins are needed. Mooring is limited to 48 hours. GOBA membership required .

![Remains of old railway bridge. This wall of engineering bricks is all that remains of the western abutment of the bridge which carried the Midland Railway's line from Kettering to Huntingdon across the Great Ouse, between the stations at Buckden and Huntingdon East. The line was opened in 1855 and closed to passengers in 1959, although some goods services continued until the 1970s. In its heyday Midland trains continued to Cambridge over the Great Eastern line via St Ives. For a view in the opposite direction see Michael Trolove's [[1923443]]. by Tiger – 25 October 2018](https://s0.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/05/95/41/5954104_00286e17_120x120.jpg)
