[Swaledale] the Swale flows across lowland farmland to meet the Ure just east of Boroughbridge at a point known as Swale Nab. The Ure becomes the Ouse, and eventually [Clifton House School] with three pupils, the sons of Reverend C.N. Wright of Kirby Hill, Boroughbridge. It was located at Clifton House, 6 Queen Parade, Harrogate, which had [Knaresborough] current one three years later in 1851. The town had a railway line to Boroughbridge until it closed to passengers in 1950; it was dismantled in 1964. Historically [York] Market Weighton and Pocklington, and Transdev York & Country services to Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Harrogate, Castle Howard and Malton. Yorkshire Coastliner [Yorkshire] draining Wensleydale, is the River Ure, which the Swale joins east of Boroughbridge. Near Great Ouseburn the Ure is joined by the small Ouse Gill Beck, [Robert Mawer] 4: "New church at Boroughbridge" Yorkshire Gazette, Saturday 31 July 1852 p6 col.1: "Consecration of the new church at Boroughbridge" English Church Architecture: [Grassington] which runs between Skipton and Green Hammerton via Pateley Bridge and Boroughbridge (being a more circuitous route that the A59 road which connects Skipton [Isle of Sheppey] of Tunstall. He fought on the rebel baronial side at the Battle of Boroughbridge (1322), was captured, and was held for over a year in the Tower of London [A59 road] ended to the south of Green Hammerton, with the A66 routed down from Boroughbridge and going into York.[citation needed] The A59 in Yorkshire was part [York Castle] campaign against his rebellious barons in 1322, and after the Battle of Boroughbridge many of the defeated rebel leaders were executed at York Castle.
