![New bridge over new canal near Droitwich, Worcestershire. This is Bridge No 2 on the Droitwich Junction Canal. It is a new bridge on a newly cut section of canal (2008-2009) which was needed because the old line had been partly filled in and built over since its abandonment in 1939. The bridge carries the private road leading to Droitwich Rugby Football Club. The canal is not yet fully watered, as some excavation nearer Droitwich still needs to be done. The last boat boat to navigate the Droitwich Junction Canal did so in 1928. The new cut, and the building or restoration of locks is scheduled to allow navigation to resume, all the way to the River Severn, in 2011.See also [[1056230]] by Roger D Kidd – 22 August 2010](https://s0.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/02/23/01/2230196_5bb111c2_120x120.jpg)
![Droitwich Junction Canal below Hanbury Locks, Worcestershire. The last boat navigated this canal in 1928, and the canal was abandoned by Act of Parliament in 1939. The original course of the canal was alongside Hanbury Road, to the left of this image. As that route had been filled in for much of its course towards Droitwich, and built over in some places, a new cut, bending round to the north-west was made here. This is not yet shown on available satellite images. Seen with telephoto assistance, the bridge shown is the new one carrying the road to the rugby club. This section of the canal is not yet kept fully watered, though it has been filled ready for open day boat trips up and down the Hanbury lock flight in recent Octobers.[[1056230]][[1125405]][[1174992]] by Roger D Kidd – 22 August 2010](https://s3.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/02/22/94/2229459_61410277_120x120.jpg)
