[Stroudwater Navigation] distance above Lower Wallbridge Lock, the first on that canal, while the Painswick Stream joins above the Dudbridge locks, and the Ruscombe Brook joins [Thames and Severn Canal] above Lower Wallbridge Lock. The Painswick Stream and Ruscombe Brook join the channel below the junction and flow through the Dudbridge locks, after which [River Thames] are called the Tideway, derived from its long tidal reach up to Teddington Lock.
