![Mitton Chapel Bridge No. 7 (1), Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal. The attractive Mitton Chapel Bridge gives access to footpaths in the grounds of St. Michael's Church. Mitton Chapel would have served the hamlet of Mitton, which existed long before the canal came, and long before the town of Stourport-on-Severn developed. The chapel would have been here when the canal was built, but by around 1790 it had been replaced by a brick church. ![Mitton Chapel Bridge No. 7 (3), Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal. When the canal was built, this bridge would have led to Mitton Chapel, but that disappeared in the late 18th century, when a new parish church was built to serve the growing town of Stourport-on-Severn. The church was replaced in late Victorian times by another, and in turn, rather surprisingly perhaps, that was replaced by the present modern St. Michael's Church. The later being built within the partially demolished outside walls of the previous church. Today this bridge leads to public footpaths which traverse the church grounds of St. Michael's, but the bridge has kept its original name.
