[Hockley Heath] Hockley Heath is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, West Midlands, England. The parish is to the south of the West Midlands [Dickens Heath] the civil parish of Hockley Heath, and is near Cheswick Green and Hollywood. Only three miles from Solihull town centre, Dickens Heath new village, when [Stratford-upon-Avon Canal] the following year, but work continued until the main line reached Hockley Heath in May 1796, one mile (1.6 km) short of the first lock at Lapworth. [Soho Manufactory] House) was built on the site, also by the Wyatts. Water was drawn from Hockley Brook. The Manufactory produced a wide range of goods from buttons, buckles [Leigh-on-Sea] element found also in the nearby towns and villages of Hadleigh, Rayleigh, Hockley, and Thundersley.[citation needed] From the late Middle Ages onwards, Leigh [Worcester and Birmingham Canal] meeting the new Stratford-upon-Avon Canal which had by then reached Hockley Heath. By March 1797 the 2726 yard (2493 m) Wast Hills Tunnel was open and [Birmingham Snow Hill railway station] creating a 10 platform station. The line north from Snow Hill towards Hockley was quadrupled at the same time, however the cost of widening the twin [Stratford station] platforms first opened in 1846 as a goods only branch as far as Thames Wharf.
