Additional information

This lock is unusual in that it is built of iron rather than the conventional stone or brick. This is reputedly due to the prevailing geological conditions.

 
Navigational Notes

This lock is distorted and C&RT strongly recommends single craft passage. Due to the unique construction, there are potential snagging points on the iron work.

Single passage, lower water slowly, rope craft to one side, paddle operator to stay aware at all times ready to close paddles and adults should supervise lock use.

There are no access ladders so difficult for solo boaters without assistance
