The solution is to add the number of Stoke Locks to the number of Tardebigge  Locks and divide by two; that makes the bridge half way on the combined flight of  36 (not 30) locks - I checked with my resident mathematician! It was 9.45am when  we reached Lock 41 and met our first narrowboat coming down.
