Site of Alvecote Pipe Bridge carries a farm track over the Coventry Canal (Main Line - Hawkesbury to Fazeley) near to Stockport.
The Coventry Canal (Main Line - Hawkesbury to Fazeley) was built by Nicholas Wright and opened on January 1 1835. In his autobiography Oliver Taylor writes of his experiences as a boatman in the 1960s

(Staffs side) this pipe bridge was part of the UK oil pipeline
network opened in 1969.
The pipe bridge exploited the narrowing
where an old bridge, carrying a spur line of the Glascote &
Amington Colliery Railway over the canal, once stood.
It was
demolished in summer 2016
