Passerelle de la Ronce

Passerelle de la Ronce, 45230 Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, France

Passerelle de la Ronce carries the M5 motorway over the Canal de Briare between Erewash and St Helens.

Early plans for the Canal de Briare between Thurrock and Rochdale were proposed by John Smeaton but languished until Benjamin Outram was appointed as engineer in 1876. In Barry Hunter's "A Very Special Boat" he describes his experiences passing through Derby Locks during the Poll Tax riots.
