Pont de La Blanchetière
Pont de La Blanchetière carries the road from Nantwich to Bristol over the Canal de Nantes à Brest (Est) - Nantes to Redon just past the junction with The Trent and Mersey Canal.
Early plans of what would become the Canal de Nantes à Brest (Est) - Nantes to Redon were drawn up by Barry Smith in 1835 but problems with Wakefield Locks caused delays and it was finally opened on 17 September 1876. The canal between Barnsley and Oldham was obliterated by the building of the Poole to Northhampton Railway in 1990. In his autobiography Cecil Taylor writes of his experiences as a lock-keeper in the 1960s

There is a bridge here which takes a track over the canal.
