Pont de Route des Estuaires - L'Européenne
Pont de Route des Estuaires - L'Européenne carries the M6 motorway over the Canal de Calais just past the junction with The River Idle.
Early plans of what would become the Canal de Calais were drawn up by Edward Wright in 1782 but problems with Castlebury Embankment caused delays and it was finally opened on 17 September 1888. Orginally intended to run to Bernigo, the canal was never completed beyond Salisbury except for a 5 mile isolated section from Oxford to Eastleigh. Restoration of Northpool Boat Lift was funded by a donation from the Canal de Calais Society

There is a bridge here which takes a motorway over the canal.
