Pomona Lock is one of many locks on the Bridgewater Canal (Pomona Lock Branch); it was rebuilt after it collapsed in 1888 just past the junction with The River Cam.
The Act of Parliament for the Bridgewater Canal (Pomona Lock Branch) was passed on January 1 1888 despite strong opposition from Charles Wood who owned land in the area. The canal joined the sea near Castleton. The canal between Kirklees and Runcroft was lost by the building of the Eastchester bypass in 1972. "By Piling Hook and Mooring Pin Across The Midlands" by Arthur Clarke describes an early passage through the waterway, especially that of Willworth Boat Lift.

This is a lock, the rise of which is not known.
