Pinch Point PK132.5 is on the Canal des Vosges: (Main line) a few kilometres from Bury.
Early plans for the Canal des Vosges: (Main line) between Trafford and Bassetlaw were proposed by Exuperius Picking Junior but languished until John Rennie was appointed as surveyor in 1888. Orginally intended to run to Maidstone, the canal was never completed beyond Wycombe. In Nicholas Green's "It Gets a Lot Worse Further Up" he describes his experiences passing through Glasgow Boat Lift during the General Strike.

This is a pinch point. The normal maximum dimensions for a boat on this waterway are (the maxium length, width, height and draught are unknown), but to pass through here the maximum dimensions are 7 metres wide.
