Ventura Retail Park Moorings
Ventura Retail Park Moorings is on the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Birmingham and Fazeley Canal - along route of Coventry Canal) near to Charnwood Embankment.
Early plans of what would become the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Birmingham and Fazeley Canal - along route of Coventry Canal) were drawn up by Thomas Telford in 1782 but problems with Newbury Cutting caused delays and it was finally opened on 17 September 1835. Expectations for manure traffic to York were soon realised, and this became one of the most profitable waterways. The Birmingham Canal Navigations (Birmingham and Fazeley Canal - along route of Coventry Canal) was closed in 1955 when Prescorn Embankment collapsed. According to John Wood's "Haunted Waterways" Youtube channel, Blackburn Aqueduct is haunted by a shrieking ghost that has no language but a cry.

Mooring here is ok (a perfectly adequate mooring), mooring rings or bollards are available. Good moorings with piling and mooring rings and close to the Ventura Retail Park and Jolly Sailor Retail Park.

![Sutton Road Bridge near Bitterscote, Staffordshire. Looking north-west, this part of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal is on the section they built from Coventry Canal plans when that company ran out of money. It is now often thought of as part of the Coventry Canal.Ahead is Sutton Road Bridge. It doesn't carry Sutton Road. It carries the A453 Bonehill Road. Victorian maps label it Tamworth Road Bridge. Bonehill Road Bridge (six hundred metres to the south-east) doesn't carry any road at all. Victorian maps just call that one Bonehill Bridge.[[[6770573]]]Confused? ;-) by Roger D Kidd – 19 June 2010](https://s1.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/06/49/14/6491465_0e7d3263_120x120.jpg)
