[South Bridge, Edinburgh] to the bridge (Niddry Street and Blair Street). Initially, town plans such as John Ainslie's 1804 map showed the street name as "South Bridge Street" [St Cecilia's Hall] city of Edinburgh, Scotland, in the United Kingdom. It is on the corner of Niddry Street and the Cowgate, about 168 metres (551 ft) south of the Royal Mile [Winchburgh] named after the bend in the Niddry Burn that runs through the village. The early settlement was probably near to Niddry Castle. After the Battle of Bannockburn [Niddrie, Edinburgh] origin, *nuada tref meaning "new settlement". It was known historically as Niddry Marischal. The Wauchope family owned the majority of the area up to the [List of castles in West Lothian] Duntarvie Staneyhill Murieston Lochcote Illieston Carribber Bridge Ochiltree Niddry Cairns Midhope Linlithgow Binns There are a number of castles in West [Nicol Uddert] 1589, is said to have been one of the grandest in Edinburgh and stood on Niddry's Close off the Royal Mile. It passed to Lockhart of Carnwarth in the late [History of the North British Railway (until 1855)] from North Bridge station towards the E&DR Niddry (later spelt Niddrie) direction. In addition a new line was built from Portobello to Niddry; this was [Domenico Corri] com/history/niddry/chapter04.htm see Corri & Sutherland trade card held at the British Museum and dated c.1790 which gives their address as "Bridge Street [Charles Inglis (engineer)] resided until 1925. They later moved to 10 Latham Road, which Inglis renamed Niddrys after the first known address of his ancestors in Edinburgh. Inglis was [Patrick Gordon of Auchindoun] husband would produce a copy of the league made at the Bridge of Dee. Auchindoun stayed at Niddry Castle in West Lothian as the guest of Lord Seton in July
