[Somerset Coal Canal] The Somerset Coal Canal (originally known as the Somersetshire Coal Canal) was a narrow canal in England, built around 1800. It was part of a larger scheme involving improvements [Bridgwater and Taunton Canal] order, and the canal was used for the transport of potable water from 1962. The Countryside Act 1968 provided a framework for Somerset County Council [Cassington Canal] Wilts and Berks, Kennet and Avon Canal, and Somerset Coal Canals. Fierce competition between the Thames and Severn Canal Company (who had taken over ownership [Bristol Harbour] marina Cumberland Basin & Brunel Locks The New Cut Netham Lock, entrance to the Feeder Canal Totterdown Basin Temple Quay The Centre Canons Marsh, including [River Avon, Bristol] found: road, rail, river, canal.
