[Sept] According to the Oxford Companion to Scottish History, the MacMartins of Letterfinlay who were a sept of the Clan Cameron would have seen themselves as distinct [Clan Cameron] Clan Encyclopedia states that the heiress was from the MacMartin of Letterfinlay family. By the 15th century, after the Mael-anfhaidh chiefship had passed [Martin (name)] several groups of Martins or Macmartins in Scotland. The MacMartins of Letterfinlay appear to have allied themselves to the Clan Cameron in the late 14th [Altrua] hamlet, on the south east shore of Loch Lochy, on the A82 road, close to Letterfinlay, Spean Bridge, in Inverness-shire, Scotland, within the Scottish council [James Evan Baillie] in further Scottish estates at Glenelg in 1837, Glenshiel in 1838 and Letterfinlay in 1851. Baillie never married and died at the age of 82 Joseph Gaston [Invergarry and Fort Augustus Railway] (30 m) span. The line then climbed to the summit of 370 feet (110 m) at Letterfinlay.
