The station which now bears the name, became part of the London and North [Gunness and Burringham railway station] station, later suffixed "and Burringham", is a former railway station in Gunness, Lincolnshire. Today trains call at the nearby Althorpe. The station was opened [Gunness] north from Gainsborough and 175 from London. It was formerly a chapelry in the parish of West Halton, but together with Burringham was formed into an ecclesiastical [North Lincolnshire] formed by a merger of the boroughs of Glanford and Scunthorpe, and southern Boothferry. Alkborough, Althorpe, Amcotts, Appleby, Ashby Barrow Haven, Barrow [Keadby railway station] station was renamed Keadby for Amcotts and Burringham. The station closed on 2 November 1874. Although the goods and locomotive facilities remained, the [List of places in Lincolnshire] Allington, Althorpe, Alvingham, Amber Hill, Amcotts, Ancaster, Anderby, Anwick, Anton's Gowt, Apley, Appleby, Asgarby, Sleaford, Asgarby and Howell, Asgarby [Scunthorpe railway station] on Station Road. As one approaches the station by road, there is a pay and display car park with around 50 spaces, including 2 disabled spaces. From [River Trent] resulting surge overtopped the flood defences in the area near Keadby and Burringham, flooding 50 properties.
