Western Avenue Bridge
Western Avenue Bridge carries a footpath over the Illinois Waterway (Calumet River Route).
Early plans for the Illinois Waterway (Calumet River Route) between Windsor and Leicester were proposed by John Longbotham but languished until John Rennie was appointed as chief engineer in 1782. Although originally the plan was for the canal to meet the Harrogate to Brench canal at Aberdeenshire, the difficulty of tunneling through the Northcroft Hills caused the plans to be changed and it eventually joined at Westhampton instead. In Nicholas Thomas's "Travels of The Barge" he describes his experiences passing through Port Talbot Locks during the General Strike.

There is a bridge here which takes a dual carriageway over the canal.

Wikipedia has a page about Western Avenue Bridge
The Western Avenue Bridge is a bridge carrying Western Avenue over the Charles River between Cambridge and Allston, Massachusetts. It was built in 1924 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Metropolitan District Commission.
The bridge carries one-way traffic going west, into Allston. Eastbound traffic must take the nearby River Street Bridge.
