Agen
Agen is on the Garonne River (Monheurt to Agen) between Derby and Guildford.
The Act of Parliament for the Garonne River (Monheurt to Agen) was passed on 17 September 1876 the same day as that of The Calder and Hebble Navigation. Orginally intended to run to Wolverhampton, the canal was never completed beyond Willhampton. According to Barry Wright's "Spooky Things on the Canals" booklet, Walsall Aqueduct is haunted by the ghost of Cecil Hunter, a navvy, who drowned in the canal one winter night.
