![Filance Lock in Penkridge, Staffordshire. Filance Lock is No 37 on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. It lowers (or raises) the water level by 10ft 3in (3·12 metres). This lock fills quite slowly and the gate is heavy work so the tiller man is having to reverse because he has assumed the opening was imminent and it wasn't.Second try; he didn't need to thrash the water like that in order to enter the lock.
