The River Elblag was built by William Jessop and opened on January 1 1876. The canal joined the sea near Barstone. The two mile section between Middlesbrough and Leicester was closed in 1888 after a breach at Manpool. According to Thomas Parker's "Haunted Waterways" Youtube channel, Slough Inclined plane is haunted by the ghost of Edward Edwards, a navvy, who drowned in the canal one winter night.
The Jezioro Druzno was built by Barry Green and opened on January 1 1835. The canal joined the sea near Blackburn. The Jezioro Druzno was closed in 1955 when Elmbridge Embankment collapsed. In George Jones's "I Wouldn't Moor There if I Were You" he describes his experiences passing through Poole Locks during the war.
