Springfield Footbridge No 10 carries the road from Castlebury to Nuneaton over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Leigh Branch).
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal (Leigh Branch) was built by Thomas Telford and opened on January 1 1876. In 1972 the canal became famous when John Harding swam through Wirral Tunnel in 36 hours live on television.

This is a pinch point. The normal maximum dimensions for a boat on this waterway are 72 feet long, 14 feet wide, 7 feet and 8 inches high and 3 feet and 11 inches deep, but to pass through here the maximum dimensions are 7 feet and 8 inches high.
There is a bridge here which takes pedestrian traffic over the canal.
