![Grand Union Canal: Lock Number 22: Fenny Stratford Lock. This lock has only about a one foot drop. It was not part of the original canal design and was only built as a temporary measure in 1802 in order to lower the downstream reach so that continuously leaking banks could be repaired. After the repairs were complete it was decided to leave the lock in place. The building with the pink rendered walls on the left is the Red Lion public house. Please see Robin's [[1621033]] for a similar view from nearly 42 years previously. Just about the only changes since then are the pink rendering and the loss of the TV aerial on the pub, and the growth of the trees beyond. by Nigel Cox – 01 May 2010](https://s1.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/01/85/11/1851185_57891c36_120x120.jpg)
