Pearson's tells us that these broad locks separating Diglis Basins from the river are closed at night and reopen around eight in the morning when the lock-keeper comes on duty. The locks are self-operated although the keeper is generally on hand to dispense advice or assistance should it be required.
Either Pearson's is wrong or it was his day off when we did them!
