looking back towards Maesbury

Standing on top of Bridge 85 looking back over Crickheath Wharf towards Maesbury. Although the wharf and winding hole was restored by contractors, members of the Shropshire Union Canal Society have restored the section of canal from the previous bridge to Crickheath. This was a difficult restoration as the canal crosses a peat bog and it was necessary to "pre-compress" the underlying peat before recreating the canal channel. The work received an Engineering award.
