What Changed in October 2019
What changed in July to September 2019
Saturday 5 October 2019
- More work on place editing: you can add "holding mooring" symbols (first of many annotations to come)
- Added closeup maps to use this sort of detail
- Code to allow easy embedding of closeup maps
- New style to show all icons on them
- Added to gazetteer
- Added to start and end place in itineraries
- Added thumbnail photos at the same time
- Added to where you change waterway in itineraries
- Made this apply when you stayed on a waterway at a junction
- Fixed (the proper way) issue 644 - rather than the patch which did it backwards (checking for bad data, new way prevents the bad data)
→ Release 9.34.2
- Old code rejuvenated to show a user's favourite boats as requested in issue 643.
- Fixed magnifying glass query in gazetteer page (needed a configuration function): issue 650.
- Made the tabbed query start working again as it seemed to be broken everywhere!
- Restored distances for tunnels and rises for flights to outputs
- Added a line break after extra time message in list-format outputs
- Added extra time messages to table-format outputs
→ Release 9.34.3
Sunday 6 October 2019
- Close up maps now work on place gazetteers in pop-up searcher
Monday 7 October 2019
- Added a circle to the symbol editing page to show the extent of the closeup map
Tuesday 8 October 2019
- Changed all .eu links in the RSS feeds to .uk ones. Because stupidity.
Wednesday 9 October 2019
- Fixed logic bug in calculating rotation for places at linear junctions - was giving a cross for Wardle Lock on close-up maps.
Thursday 10 October 2019
- Added code to remove map graphics when facilities removed from places
Saturday 12 October 2019
- Put a different maximum zoom on separate facility icons so they don't swamp the close up map
→ Release 9.34.4
Sunday 13 October 2019
- Added ability to choose the zoom for closeup maps
- Moved text and controls for map edit into (CSS) tabs
Tuesday 15 October 2019
- Improved resolution for printing floating points
- Added explicit "this has changed" flags to place edit - prevents recalculation when not necessary
To Saturday 19 October 2019
- Added icons for businesses (pubs, shops, boatyards - no info associated with them yet)
- Added ability to select icon for places and override the default
- Added a few more detail icons (signposts, mileposts)
→ Release 9.34.5
Sunday 20 October 2019
- Slightly improved change log messages when symbols are added, moved and deleted.
- Default zoom is now part of the system configuration rather than hard wired in everywhere
- Prevented clicks on places running the gazetteer when editing symbols
- Added an alerting system for map edits, rather than having to guess!
→ Release 9.34.6
To Saturday 26 October 2019
- Can rotate symbols, for example to align bridges with roads crossing the canal non-normally.
- Fixed - again - the missing map in itinerary issue 663
- Extended the max length of an internal buffer which was truncating the string version of floating point numbers (since the precision was increased in 9.34.5), and causing problems with longitudes very close to zero (Stanstead Lock Water Point is just about on the meridian) - issue 666
→ Release 9.34.7
- Closeup maps still show if maps turned off in gazetteer
- Added caching for closeup maps. Really to support putting them into PDF itineraries, but generally useful anyway.
Sunday 27 October 2019
- Added closeup maps and pictures to navigational notes
Saturday 2 November 2019
- Using the original thumbnails for itineraries and navigational notes was ugly as they got over-enlarged. Added code to create more suitably sized ones as needed
- Integrated photos and closeup maps to the printed itinerary. This could still be improved.
- Refactored a lot of the itinerary code between the normal and the printed itineraries
→ Release 9.34.8
