It runs for 4 furlongs from Aldersley Junction (where it joins the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal (Main Line: Stourton to Aldersley) and the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Main Line)) to Autherley Junction (where it joins the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal (Main Line: Autherley to Great Haywood) and the Shropshire Union Canal (Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal - Main Line)).

The maximum dimensions for a boat to be able to travel on the waterway are 72 feet long and 7 feet wide. The maximum headroom is 7 feet and 6 inches. The maximum draught is not known.
