I've been trying again to work on re-arranging places on the Grand Western Canal.
The nearest place links show OK until after you have selected Move Place from Edit Information, then links to one/both places show prefixed with ! (e.g. !8hew)
I've previously described this on thread https://canalplan.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?id=145 with an example of East Manley Bridge but here's the list of places I've found with this issue;
https://canalplan.uk/place/ecde
https://canalplan.uk/place/hqu8
https://canalplan.uk/place/c7j3
https://canalplan.uk/place/2ct0
https://canalplan.uk/place/totk
https://canalplan.uk/place/2ujm
https://canalplan.uk/place/27tm

I've rebuilt the database.

Are you actually changing the order of the places?

Are you doing that by just dragging the markers or are you using the move place option?

Shultzy

I think I know what's happening.
Firstly [Warnicombe Bridge] should be where [East Manley Bridge] is and vice-versa.

Secondly I think the user wanted to move the place [Warnicombe Bridge] to the LH side of [Manley Bridge] and [East Manley Bridge] to the RH side of [Manley Bridge] using the [ Move place] option under [ Edit information ].

The confusion might be that the [ Move place] option shows \"Move this place elsewhere on the canal\" (when hovered over) which is wrong as you can only move it either side of what's currently next to it.

I don't think this is possible without moving the place past each of the marker places (which could be 20-30 moves).

The best way is to rename [Warnicombe Bridge] to [East Manley Bridge] and vice-versa, and then move the photos.

Thanks for all your efforts on this.

CanalplanAC currently shows this sequence of places;
Great Western Railway Aqueduct (Halberton)
Warnicombe Bridge Winding Hole
Warnicombe Bridge
Manley Bridge
East Manley Bridge
Tidcombe Bridge
William Authers Footbridge

Order of places should be;
Great Western Railway Aqueduct (Halberton)
East Manley Bridge
Manley Bridge
Warnicombe Bridge
Warnicombe Bridge Winding Hole
Tidcombe Bridge
William Authers Footbridge

Bridges are shown in correct sequence on;
https://www.tivertoncanal.co.uk/canal-map

Please advise what can be done to resolve this and if there's any action I need to take.

Shultzy

I've made the changes except [Warnicombe Bridge Winding Hole] which I've renamed [East Manley Bridge Winding Hole] as there is no winding hole between [Warnicombe Bridge] and [Tidcombe Bridge].

Changes now reviewed and it all looks OK, thankfully the geograph photos also match.
I'm now looking forward to making a further visit to Warnicombe Bridge to add some photos for this place.
Many Thanks
