Fenny Compton Winding Hole: We have a 70ft narrowboat. The published information shows the maximum craft length on Oxford / Napton section as 72ft ( in reality, that's 70ft craft with fore / aft normal bumpers) . The winding hole has no restriction notes. On Monday 7 September we attempted to turn, entering heading South, to return to Napton. Our boat became jammed even though the rear bumper had been removed.  The front bumper was eventually released & pushed down using a mooring pin. The bow was then able to be moved into the raw concrete area. Even with all this, the bow grinding against the concrete & the rudder clipping the metal plating on the towpath side, It was only just possible to make the turn by rope hauling.  The towpath has been \"improved\"  by metal edging. This has taken approximately 2 ft out off the available space. I respectfully suggest this winding hole should be promulgated with a 65ft length restriction.  I called CRT by phone on the day & a lengthsman arrived as someone else had reported \"stuck boat\". I have recently e mailed CRT about this. I can't imagine that this has not been reported before now.  It doesn't help that there is a \"permanently?\" moored narrowboat within the confines of the turning space.

[Fenny Compton Wharf] has a [Navigational Notes] entry on the length restriction, which was put there on the 2nd of September, 2020.

The winding hole size can be set in the Edit Place options - that way the planner will not try to wind you there if you have said your boat is 70 feet long.
