Just now heard of this site on crusing the cut. Really cool. Saw the announcement on the Google map issue
 Have you looked at open street maps as an option?

Oh yes.  We're well on the way to being able to get things working - it's just integrating the whole thing that is a bit complicated and time consuming.

In fact, as of today, we have live maps using OSM data for places, waterways and routes.
