Summary0000273: setting additional exclusions in preferences deletes boat size set previously
DescriptionI set the boat size to 62 feet under preferences and planning and "saved" this.
Then I excluded the tidal section of river trent, in preferences, exclusions and "saved" this.
When I planned a route the boat size was not taken into consideration. I checked preferences and found that the boat size was zero.

I again set the boat size and saved, replanned the route, and the size was taken into account but the tidal section of the river trent was included in the plan.

How can I set both the boat size and the excluded section?
Also, how can I see what additional exclusions have been set (they are not listed after setting and saving).

I also tried setting the boat size and excluding the tidal trent section using apply instead of save, but the result was the same.

I set a boat length and then an exclusion. On returning to the boat length it had set BUG in each of the boat details. Also after excluding a waterway the [Excluded Waterways] and [Types of place to exclude] pages appear as one page with a green background. The excluded waterways don't appear in the list of exclusions. I suggest that user excluded waterways are recorded in a box separate from waterways excluded by the system.

This sounds very odd as they should not interact.

I think it must be something to do with saving the settings (which the comment on "BUG" appearing seems to confirm). Will investigate.

Nick Atty (administrator)

I've diagnosed it! When I made it possible to visit marker places even without the view turned on I had to put some code in to reset the preferences back to what they had been. This interfered with the code to redisplay the preferences page when you excluded a waterway. The effect of this was that some Javascript failed. This meant that the code to change dimensions to your appropriate units didn't run, which in turn meant that the value for the boat dimensions (along with lots of other stuff) was wiped out when you saved.

I've fixed it in development, it will go live in the next release (with luck this will be at the weekend).

Nick Atty (administrator)

I've pushed it live through a patch, because I'm doing major rewrite of the gazetteers etc and it is going to take some time.

There's still a small bug in that sometimes the change doesn't "take" - revisiting preferences will cause it to do so. I'm leaving this open until I fix that as well.

Nick Atty (administrator)

I believe I did the second fix as well.
