River Nene (main river)

The River Nene (main river) is a small river and is part of the River Nene. It runs for 66 miles and ½ furlongs through 38 locks from Dog-in-a-Doublet Lock No 38 (where it joins the River Nene (tidal section)) to Northampton Railway Bridge (which is a dead end).

The maximum dimensions for a boat to be able to travel on the waterway are 78 feet long and 13 feet wide. The maximum headroom is not known. The maximum draught is not known.

It has junctions with the Grand Union Canal (Northampton Branch) at Northampton Junction; with the River Nene (Stanground Branch) at Peterborough Junction and with the River Nene (Westbridge Arm) at Westbridge Arm Junction.
